API Keys

Manage your LLM provider API keys.

API Keys

Provider API keys let your FormWise Flows run on your own AI model provider accounts. They are optional: without one, every model runs on your plan's included credits. Adding a key moves that provider's usage onto your own provider bill instead. Setting up your keys is quick and only needs to be done once per provider.

Plan availability

Saving your own provider keys is available on the Pro and Agency plans. Keys you saved before a plan change stay connected, and you can always disconnect them.

Looking for keys that let your own systems call FormWise? Those live on Settings → API. See the API Overview.

What are API keys?

API keys are credentials that authenticate your FormWise organization with external AI model providers. When one of your Flows runs a model from a provider you have a key for, FormWise uses your API key to send requests to the provider and receive responses. Each provider issues its own keys, and you will need a separate key for each provider you want to use.

Supported providers

FormWise currently supports connecting your own key for three AI model providers:

  • OpenAI - the GPT model family, including GPT-5.5 and GPT-4o.
  • Anthropic - the Claude model family, including the current Opus, Sonnet, and Haiku tiers.
  • Google (Gemini) - the Gemini model family, including Gemini 3.1 Pro and Gemini 3 Flash.

The same page also takes an ElevenLabs key, used for voice-to-voice speech.

See LLM Providers for more on choosing between them. The exact model lineup evolves as providers release new versions - the Model dropdown inside each Agent node always shows the current options.

Adding an API key

  1. Go to Settings and open Integrations.
  2. Stay on the API Keys tab.
  3. Find the provider you want to connect (OpenAI, Anthropic, Google Gemini, or ElevenLabs).
  4. Paste your API key into the API Key field.
  5. Click Connect.

That is it - the card shows a Connected badge, and that provider's models now run on your key across your organization. To remove a key, click Disconnect. To replace a key, disconnect it and connect the new one.

Where to get your API keys

If you do not have an API key yet, you can create one from the provider's website:

Each provider will ask you to create an account and set up billing before issuing an API key.

Security

Your API keys are handled with care:

  • All keys are encrypted before being stored.
  • After you save a key, the full value is never shown again in the UI. You will only see a masked version.
  • Only Owners and Admins can add or remove API keys. Members and Viewers can see which providers are connected, but never the keys themselves.

If you believe a key has been compromised, revoke it on the provider's website, disconnect it in FormWise, and connect a new one.

How your Flows use API keys

Once you add an API key for a provider, every Agent node that uses one of that provider's models runs on your key automatically - no per-node setting. You do not need to configure keys on a per-Flow basis - they are shared across your entire organization. Models from providers you have not connected keep running on your included credits.

If you have keys for multiple providers, your team can mix and match models in different Flows depending on what works best for each use case.
